Join the Surfrider Foundation Monterey Chapter for an inspiring evening at the Monterey Yacht Club featuring local sailing hero, Michael Polkabla!
Michael will share the incredible story of his victory in the 2025 Singlehanded Transpacific Yacht Race, where he finished first overall aboard his legendary Monterey-based 1963 Cal 40, Solstice.

Hear firsthand about the preparation, endurance, and navigation required to accomplish this monumental feat. You’ll have a chance to ask questions about the technical and psychological aspects of solo ocean racing.

Following Michael's talk, we'll quickly share updates on current local projects and discuss tangible ways you can get involved with Surfrider Monterey—from our Blue Water Task Force to plastic pollution campaigns. Stick around for a general Q&A and networking session with fellow ocean enthusiasts!

### Logistics & Important Notes
- Venue: Monterey Yacht Club (MYC), 252 Figueroa St, Monterey, CA 93940.
- Dress Code: Casual/Business Casual. We recommend layering, as the Yacht Club can get chilly in the evenings.
- Parking: Parking is plenty available around the wharf
- RSVP Confirmation: Limited Seating! Please ensure your registration is confirmed on the Golden platform (or Meetup). If your plans change, please cancel your spot so we can provide an accurate count to the Yacht Club.
