Normandy to Henley Park Lake (7.3 miles)
Details
A moderate walk, on mainly level ground starting from the Normandy Village Shop car park. We pass through Normandy Common, then along the perimeter of Ash Ranges to Henley Gate. We then walk past horse paddocks to Rails Farm, through the lovely Oldfield Woods, and along the edge of Henley Park Lake. After crossing the Pirbright Road, we walk for a short distance along Cobbett Hill Road, before turning onto the Fox Way, which then takes us through the lovely Normandy countryside back to the village shop.
The walk passes through some boggy areas so sturdy waterproof footwear is essential.
There are a number of stiles. Some road walking. There are parts of the walk where dogs must be kept on leads.
Refreshments and toilets are available in the Village Shop at the end of the walk.
Further details can be found on the Surrey Heath Ramblers program page https://www.ramblers.org.uk/find-a-walk.aspx?layer=walks&tab=walks&group=SR15
This walk is also advertised on the Surrey Heath Ramblers web site (www.surreyheathramblers.org.uk) so there will be more walkers attending than is shown on Meetup. Typically we walk with between 15 and 25 people.
Our walks start promptly and it is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes early to get booted ready for the walk.
If you are unable to attend please remove yourself from the event and text the walk leader so that they are aware that you won't be attending.
As a non member of Ramblers you can attend 3 walks to try us out, after that you are required to join the Ramblers to continue walking with us.
This walk will be led by Peter who can be contacted on 07766 973951.
