Winchfield (6.2 miles)
Details
Starting at the Barley Mow Slipway Car Park we make our way along the Basingstoke Canal towpath to Sprats Hatch Bridge. We cross the bridge and walk along to Tundry Pond where we pause to enjoy the views.
We continue our walk across fields then another short stretch of the canal. We follow a wide path that leads into a stretch of woodland, horses and pretty countryside.
There are likely to be a few muddy sections and a short boggy area. There are two stiles, both low and easy to cross.
Approximately 200 meters of walking along a quiet road.
Advise good waterproof boots, gaiters and poles.
There is a pub opposite the car park for those requiring refreshments at the end of the walk.
Further details can be found on the Surrey Heath Ramblers program page https://www.ramblers.org.uk/find-a-walk.aspx?layer=walks&tab=walks&group=SR15
This walk is also advertised on the Surrey Heath Ramblers web site (www.surreyheathramblers.org.uk) so there will be more walkers attending than is shown on Meetup. Typically we walk with between 15 and 25 people.
Our walks start promptly and it is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes early to get booted ready for the walk.
If you are unable to attend please remove yourself from the event and text the walk leader so that they are aware that you won't be attending.
As a non member of Ramblers you can attend 3 walks to try us out, after that you are required to join the Ramblers to continue walking with us.
This walk will be led by Hazel who can be contacted on 07565 533286.
