## Welcome to Our Surrey Free Writers Club !

We are here to practice free-writing—you can write anything you’d like: a poem, a song, a journal entry, or a short story. There are no restrictions; simply write whatever you feel.

### How it Works

  • The Writing Session: We will write in silence for 30 minutes.
  • Sharing: Once the time is up, you are invited to share what you wrote. Please note that sharing is completely optional; if you feel uncomfortable, you are welcome to just listen.
  • A Safe Space: This is a safe space built on consent and comfortability

### Guidelines for Feedback

Criticism is only allowed with the writer's explicit consent. Before you begin reading, please state:

  1. Your Name
  2. Your Feedback Preference: Say "I am open to criticism" or "I am not open to criticism."

If you are providing feedback:

  • Please be gentle and supportive.
  • Wait until the writer has completely finished speaking before responding.
  • Raise your hand to speak; we will call on people in the order hands are raised.
  • To keep things moving, we limit feedback to three people per writer.

### Closing Discussion

After everyone has had a chance to share, we will spend the final 30 minutes discussing the themes and topics that emerged from our writing.

### Schedule

The event lasts one hour in total. We currently meet once a month on Sundays, though we may move to a weekly schedule depending on interest and attendance.

> Remember: Consent is our top priority. Writing is a vulnerable art form, and we are here to protect that process.
