Spring foraging (edible greens)

Details

Come and join us for a foraging walk in and around our lovely Sussex woodland. We will show you interesting edible and easily mistaken harmful plants, talk about some medicinal uses and share some folklore. The aim is to pick and taste these plants for salads and green teas with the aim of you being able to add to your home menu should you so wish. Prior plant knowledge is not necessary.

This session will look at the identification and uses of some of the more common and easily recognisable trees and plants in season at this time of year NB This course will not cover foraging for mushrooms. We will also cover foraging law and good practice. We will be walking through our wood and along local footpaths so you will need appropriate footwear and wet weather clothing. You might also like to bring along suitable bags if you wish to collect samples and a notepad and pen. We will finish off the session preparing and eating some of our finds.

This session will take place in and around our 21 acre dedicated site near Horsham.

This course will be led by Phil and Mia. Phil is a qualified bushcraft instructor and holds a level 4 qualification in Ethnobotany. Mia has Bsc degree in Nutrition and is a professional chef.

Please bring your own lunch and snacks. We will provide tea and coffee.

Due to the nature of the day and the activities, the session is open to anyone over 14, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult (ratio of 2 children to 1 adult) who will be responsible for supervising the children throughout the day.

NB No dogs please.
