Sustainable Albany

This group is for anyone interested in helping to make Albany and the surrounding areas more sustainable. The secondary objective is to have FUN and socialize with like-minded individuals. Possible meetups include: neighborhood cleanups, gardening, planting trees/bulbs, environmental lobbying, trail and river clean-ups, community garden planning, protesting, environmental education, beekeeping, convincing restaurants and businesses to buy and sell locally, graffiti removal/mural painting, movie nights, canning classes, invasive plant removal, bike refurbishing/tune-ups, electronics recycling, camping, "green drinks" discussions, discouraging pesticide use in parks, neighborhood beautification, volunteer weatherization projects, and more!

The first event would probably be a get-together at a cafe to talk about future meetups.

I (almost!) have a BS in Environmental Studies, so I have some abilities to bring to the table. If anyone else has any skills or ideas that may be useful to the group, please send me a message or post on the message board.
