Details

Learn to use a sewing machine by creating an easy tote bag!

Join us for a three hour introduction to sewing with a machine using the machines at the Tool Library.

What you will learn:
- How to thread a machine
- How to use a pattern
- How to use sewing scissors
- How to sew using a machine
- How to create a tote bag

You do not need prior sewing experience to take this class. We will begin with the basics and make sure you are comfortable with the machine before diving into creating a tote bag.

We'll provide:
- Sewing machines
- Scissors
- Basic thread colors

You will bring:
- At least one yard (36" x 72") of woven fabric (denim, cotton twill, plain cotton, and other sturdy natural fabrics are preferred, but bring what you have!) Even an old pillowcase will work.
- Matching thread if your fabric is a very specific color (chartreuse green, say)

Due to community interest, we ask that you please RSVP here on Meetup to secure your spot. If the event is full, please join the waitlist and our Meetup group to get announcements about future events.
