Sustainability in IT - April Meetup

Details
The first sustainability in IT Meetup is set for Thursday April 23rd starting at 5pm. We'll be going remote using Zoom!
The purpose of the session is to share experiences on the challenges facing enterprise IT and where organisations should and could be focusing to address the challenge that is ahead of us. Here's the agenda:
17:00 – Donovan Justice (CEO – Digital Detox)
Donovan's session will delve into the approach Digital Detox have taken to introduce sustainability as a core element to their business, including the changes, challenges and benefits, plus the recommendations and opportunities for other companies to do the same. Having created a tried-and-tested formula of measurement, his talk will address the common areas where change is needed, from code and cloud through to the underlying culture and customer impact.
17:30 – Andrew Ferguson (Head of Digital Services – Vodafone)
Andrew will discuss the journey Vodafone Digital Services have embarked on to reduce the environmental impact of their applications and underlying IT services. From his first-hand experience, he will cover the need to engage your wider business, and how they intend to make their IT services more sustainable, with the optimum, critical goal of embedding sustainability within the wider culture of their business.
18:00 – John Booth (MD - Carbon3IT Ltd.)
John will be covering the often painful subject of datacentre sustainability. This presentation will provide a background to climate change, potential energy issues in the UK over the next 5 years, info on global datacentre energy use and mitigation actions that datacentre owners can adopt to reduce energy consumption.
