What we're about

Hi everyone,

I am pleased to say that this is now a well-established group that has been meeting regularly for over 3 years. The evening normally runs as follows:

7-8pm Activities in Spanish

8-9pm More informal conversation, games or chat

People sometimes stay later than 9pm but I leave that up to individuals.

There is normally a good mix of native and non-native speakers, and a wide range of levels so don’t worry if you think your level is too low. We accommodate everyone, even if you only know “hola!”

Group rules:

- No no-shows or last minute cancellations without exceptional reason. I normally close RSVPs around noon on the day, so anything later than that would be considered a no-show. This is because the organisers need to know if there are enough people to run the event (or not), plus what level people are (or if you’re a native speaker), as well as our time travelling to/from the venue, and it’s disappointing if we travel to a venue with a lot of no-shows or cancellations. If you cancel/no-show more than 3 times you will be banned from the group.

- Please be respectful to everyone and create a friendly environment

I also ask that

- You support our venues by purchasing at least 1 item from them

- A £3 donation (as meetup is not free, and also to cover printing/materials/games as well as travel time and costs). It isn’t compulsory but is greatly appreciated!

We have sponsors Duolingo and BCN Sunlight language school in Barcelona so we can really offer you some great opportunities to improve your Spanish!

We also work with Pencil and Fork and are able to offer you the chance to learn Spanish through food, all at a great price. Please send me a message on here for more details.

Finally, I hope you enjoy the group. It is my aim that all members learn something at every session they attend (or that native speakers have the chance to improve their English whilst helping others learn Spanish). Please check out our reviews and positive feedback!

P.S. Do you regularly travel to Spain? If so, get a Revolut card and never pay foreign exchange fees again, even for ATM withdrawals. https://revolut.com/referral/howardn7j
