What we're about

Hi everyone,

I am pleased to say that this is now a well-established group that has been meeting regularly for over 4 years, normally in Sutton and Epsom but online for the foreseeable future, so we can include our members in other countries. The evening normally runs as follows:

7-8 pm Introductions and activities in Spanish

8-8.30 pm More informal conversation, games or chat

People sometimes stay later than 8.30 pm, but I leave that up to individuals.

Our official language community partner is Freestyle Language Centre. A flexible model that gives students the knowledge and makes them feel empowered from day 1. No exams, grades or tests - just a communicative, enjoyable way to learn a language. We can also offer 10% off any of their courses - just use code VAMONOS10 at https://freestylelanguages.com/

There is normally a good mix of native and non-native speakers, and a wide range of levels so don’t worry if you think your level is too low. We accommodate everyone, even if you only know “hola!”

Group rules:

- No no-shows or last-minute cancellations without exceptional reason. I normally close RSVPs around noon on the day, so anything later than that would be considered a no-show. This is because the organisers need to know if there are enough people to run the event (or not), plus what level people are (or if you’re a native speaker) and our time travelling to/from the venue. It’s disappointing if we travel to a venue (or log on) with a lot of no-shows or cancellations. If you cancel/no-show more than 3 times, you will be banned from the group.

- Please be respectful to everyone and create a friendly environment

I also ask that

- You support our venues by purchasing at least 1 item from them (when we are in venues)

A £3 donation (as meetup is not free, and to cover printing/materials/games, organisation and travel time and costs where applicable). It isn’t compulsory, but it is greatly appreciated! You can donate via PayPal or Revolut. My Revolut username is hjc201.

We have also work with Duolingo so we can really offer you some great opportunities to improve your Spanish!

Finally, I hope you enjoy the group. My aim is that all members learn something at every session they attend (or those native speakers have the chance to improve their English whilst helping others learn Spanish). Please check out our reviews and positive feedback!

P.S. Do you regularly travel to Spain or abroad? If so, get a Revolut card and never pay foreign exchange fees again, even for ATM withdrawals. https://revolut.com/referral/howardn7j

Small group (max 6) Spanish lesson online - suitable for intermediate students

Join us for a relaxed Spanish lesson where you can ask questions, get involved in activities and take part in a lesson that doesn't feel like work (no homework, grammar tests or textbooks, I promise!)

Take a virtual trip through Spain, start speaking from your first session. This course is a more in-depth version of the Sutton/Epsom session, where we will look at different topics in more detail, and there will be plenty of time for students to ask questions.

Max. 6 students, so every student gets a chance to speak.

Qualified teacher at every class - either a native Spanish speaker or a teacher who has lived in Spain.

Suitable for intermediate learners, although activities are adapted.

IMPORTANT
To sign up, you need to go to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/online-spanish-small-group-course-intermediate-level-tickets-164818575797

I will then email you the zoom link shortly before the session. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to send me a message here.
