Let's Take a Hike to the Toccoa Swinging Bridge!

This will be an exploratory hike. The trail starts at the Benton Mackaye Trailhead. We will hike up Toonowee Mountain and then back down to the Toccoa Swinging Bridge which crosses over the Toccoa River. After we cross the river, we will turn around and head back on the same trail. This hike is about 7-8 miles with about 1500 ft elevation gain. This is not a beginners hike as we will keep a pace of 2.25-2.5 mph.

The trail on AllTrails is does make a loop but the reviews note that the directions for the way back is a 4 mile gravel road. I would rather stay on a trail so we will hike this as an out and back.

We will meet where the Benton MacKaye Trail crosses over Morganton Hwy in Blue Ridge. Please follow the directions in AllTrails or the pinned location below. We will meet at 10am and begin our hike promptly. It should take us about 4.5 hours with a break at the Swinging Bridge.

Hope to see you there! And of course please remember that you will be participating entirely at your own risk as Suwanee Take-a-Hikers assumes absolutely no liability (nada, zero, zilch, zip) for adverse events which may occur during meetups.
