On the opening night of "Spirits in Stone, Shona Sculpture from Zimbabwe, Stanford pediatric surgeon and sculptor Peter Koltai, MD shares his connection with community through his passion for medicine and stone sculpting.
"Surgery and sculpture are both skill sets that require manual dexterity, knowledge of the process, some courage, creativity and hard work, but they are very different disciplines. Though I have been an artist since early childhood, as a novice sculptor, I am as awkward as my junior residents trying to learn their first tonsillectomies. It is most interesting and humbling, after a lifetime of teaching young men and women how to use their hands, head and heart in the operating room, being a student all over again," Peter Koltai, MD.
Space is limited. If you can not attend please change your RSVP.
The talk will begin at 7pm.
Refreshments will be served.
