DeepDreamVisionQuest, a Magic Mirror with Gary Boodhoo

For our next SVNexus Meetup join us for an interactive experience at Nature Gallery in Los Altos with digital artist Gary Boodhoo.

Sip a glass of bubbly and some delicious hors d'oeuvres and with Gary's help create your personal machine dream portrait.

Gary's art is at the cutting edge of algorithmic design, using elements of modern artificial intelligence technology to create strikingly original dream-like images. Here is how Gary describes his work:

"The computer was wrong but together we arrived at poetry. My video installations show an unpredictable world to a gregarious learning machine through a live camera. Together, we're making pictures of minds. In this live demo I discuss how and why I built DeepDreamVisionQuest, a neural image synthesizer that creates multiplayer hallucinations. I will speak briefly about how images are produced by neural networks using my software to demonstrate the possibilities. Visitors are welcome to sit for portraits. Artist Bio

Gary Boodhoo makes pictures of minds. The Jamaican-born interaction designer and machine learning enthusiast turns neural networks into engaging hallucinatory experiences. His creative practice uncovers emotional connections with smart objects. "I caught a glimpse of my Self inside the computer and wondered if others would see it too", Boodhoo ventures. He describes his current work as science fiction cave painting owing to its spontaneous creation of ritual imagery. His video installations have appeared at conferences, festivals and events across the Bay Area.
