Each month we hope to offer an "Adventure Ride" that takes us out of our comfort zones and introduces us to some new places to ride in San Diego County. Last month, we headed to Point Loma. This month, we are heading to Mt. Laguna, San Diego County's tallest peak.

The good news about Mount Laguna is that there are a lot of ways up the mountain, and a few of them are much more approachable for our newer riders. This ride will NOT be starting at Carbon Connection in Carlsbad, and is a bit of a drive east of Alpine on I-8. If you've never been down that way, it is definitely worth a visit. I would also love to have a post-ride lunch at the diner in Pine Valley if people can make it! So even if you don't want to ascend the mountain, you can always drive down to the see the sights and join us for lunch afterward.

The routes done by the beginner and intermediate groups are still TBD, but here are some ideas:

(1) Mt Laguna from Lake Cuyamaca - http://www.strava.com/routes/202041
(34 miles, 2659 ft elevation)

(2) Mt. Laguna from Pine Valley CCW + Return - http://www.strava.com/routes/202042
(22 miles, 2600 ft elevation)

(3) Mt. Laguna - Via 79 + Sunrise Hwy CW - http://www.strava.com/routes/202043
(44.7 miles, 4153 ft elevation)

Advanced:
For the Advanced Route, I have a route up Kitchen Creek and returning down Sunrise Hwy counterclockwise to 79 and back to Pine Valley. This route should not be missed.
