Melincourt Falls & Neath Canal Hike 🌊🚶♂️
Details
A spectacular woodland walk featuring one of the highest waterfalls in South Wales, followed by a very relaxed stroll along the historic Neath Canal.
The Plan: We will meet at the Melincourt Falls car park. We’ll start with a short, slightly steep woodland path to visit the breathtaking 80ft waterfall. After taking some photos and heading back down, we’ll cross over to the Neath Canal towpath for a flat, easy social walk along the water before returning to our cars.
Details:
- Distance: ~4 miles (Out and back).
- Terrain: A short woodland climb to the falls, followed by a completely flat, easy canal towpath.
- Duration: Roughly 2 hours walking (with stops).
- Footwear: Hiking boots or sturdy trainers are recommended as the waterfall path can be a bit damp/muddy.
- Meeting Point: Melincourt Falls Car Park, Resolven (SA11 4AL).
- Car Sharing: If you have space in your car or would like a lift, please comment below.
Post-Hike Social: Once we finish, we’ll head over to The Resolven Canal Carvery. It’s a huge, casual space right by the water—perfect for a quick drink and a chat after the walk (food is optional).
Note: We are going to Melincourt Falls in Resolven (SA11 4AL), not Henrhyd Falls in Coelbren. Please check the postcode before you set off!
