Swansea Software Development Meetup - Dec '22

It was great to see everybody at the launch event back in September! It took a little longer than expected but we're excited to bring another event on Thursday, 8th December with a fantastic line-up of new speakers to close out the year.

The event will be hosted again at HQ Urban Kitchen, located on Orchard Street just opposite the Glynn Vivian and a short walk from the old TechHub. We have limited capacity and need to plan ahead for food/drinks, so we'd appreciate if you could RSVP in advance.

Automation Principles
Speaker: Nigel Brookes Thomas, Principal Quality Engineer @ DVLA

Nigel takes us through the 4 principles of automation used to perform QA at DVLA.

From Japan with Data
Speaker: Ben Wilson, Senior Data Scientist @ Method

A talk discussing real world applications of clustering techniques, used to segment Japanese retail customer data. The talk will cover the handling of 3 distinct types of customer data along with suitable methods for segmenting customers based on this data. The first, based on transactional data will employ Recency Frequency Monetary (RFM) analysis. The second, experience sequencing will be applied to email metadata. The last, and most sophisticated approach, will discuss a method used for persona identification based on customer survey data.
