Volunteer meeting to build a Telugu Small Language Model (SLM)

We invite you to our Volunteer meeting on November 11 (Saturday) and join us in our groundbreaking effort of building a Telugu Language Small Language Model (SLM)!

Swecha has built the first Telugu Operating System and the first free Telugu font. An extensive glossary created by Swecha still serves as the base for Telugu keyboards we use in our daily lives.

Continuing in the same spirit, Swecha has been working on building a Large Language Model (LLM) for Telugu. LLMs have become the starting point for building our own / indigenous AI applications in regional languages. With this goal, we have started working on developing the first-of-its-kind Telugu Language Small Language Model (SLM) and create a platform for public contributions to a dataset of Telugu stories from the renowned "Chandamama Kathalu" children's magazine.
On this year's Children's Day (November 14), we are conducting a datathon intended to create a large corpus of Telugu stories with participation from thousands of individuals from colleges (20+) and companies. This corpus will be used to create the very first Telugu AI, capable of coming up with short stories.

In this volunteer meeting, along with development of the platform, we will also work on making the Datathon on November 14 a huge success.
