Swenug Lkpg Autumn kick-off

Details

Software development is evolving, perhaps faster than ever, with new tools reshaping the way we think about code, data, and productivity.
At this meetup, we’ll explore two areas. The latest in building AI applications on .NET and the latest trends in AI-powered coding assistants.

Kim Berg will take you on a journey through Azure AI services with hands-on demos! Kim will showcase the breadth of Azure's AI capabilities, including Cognitive Services for vision, speech, and language, Azure OpenAI for Generative AI, and Azure Machine Learning. Through live demonstrations in Azure AI Foundry, Kim will show you these services solving real business challenges and share inspiring practical use cases. Whether you're new to AI or looking to expand your toolkit, Kim will give you a clear understanding of what's available and the confidence to start implementing Azure AI in your own projects.

Then, Andreas Wänqvist will take us through The State of AI Coding , examining how AI is changing the way we write and reason about code. From low-code platforms to professional developer copilots and the new emerging agentic systems, we’ll explore the current landscape of AI in software development and discuss how to put these tools to work effectively.

Session 1 - Kim Berg
Navigating the Azure AI seas
Let's check out the expansive world of Azure AI services! This session is designed to showcase the breadth of Azure’s AI capabilities and how they can be applied to various real-world scenarios. With mostly demos I'll get you situated in what's available and how to get started and how to continue with your AI use cases. This session will provide valuable insights into choosing the right Azure AI services for your needs.

We’ll explore the ocean of services, including the Cognitive services for vision, speech, and language understanding, as well as Azure OpenAI to utilize Generative AI and Azure Machine Learning for managing your Machine Learning project lifecycle. Through demos in Azure AI Foundry, you’ll see these services in action, solving common business challenges.

I'll let you sneak peek at some use cases where Azure AI has been used, providing you with real examples as inspiration. After this session, you'll have a better understanding of how Azure AI can enhance your applications and the confidence to start testing and implementing these services in your own projects.

Session 2 - Andreas Wänqvist
The State of AI Coding Tools: From Low-Code to Autonomous Agents
AI-powered development tools have evolved rapidly from simple code completion to autonomous coding agents. This session examines the current landscape of AI coding assistance across different skill levels and use cases.

We'll explore the spectrum of available tools, from low-code platforms like Loveable that enable non-developers to build applications, to professional coding assistants like GitHub Copilot that augment experienced developers. The talk covers the emerging category of agentic tools, including Copilot's agent mode for autonomous task completion, as well as command-line agents like Claude Code and Gemini CLI, which handle complex development workflows.

We'll also examine cloud-based coding agents, such as Codex, and their capabilities for larger-scale development tasks. Through practical examples and evaluation criteria, attendees will learn how to select appropriate tools for their team's skill level and project requirements.

The session concludes with guidance on implementation strategies, common pitfalls, and realistic expectations for AI-assisted development in professional environments.
