FIREWORKS!!! SKB. Bike And Celebrate Our Country's Birthday

Let's celebrate our country's birthday with a bike ride and party at Siesta Key Beach. Again this year the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce is having a fantastic fireworks display at the beach by the main pavilion. The fireworks start around 9 but people arrive early to picnic, party and get the best view spot. We will meet in the parking lot at Philippi Estates park by the restrooms and playground at 8 PM. We will bike through Pine Shores, over the Stickney Point Bridge and to the main pavilion where we will lock our bikes. While we are biking we can laugh at all the cars moving at a snail's pace. The access to the water will be blocked off so don't bother with a bathing suit. The fireworks are set off from a barge out in the bay. We will find the best available seating for a good view, Bring refreshments of your choice to share. Also insect repellent. Plus bike lock, helmet and a bike with bright lights as we will be biking back after dark. After ( and before) the official fireworks, a community just to the south of the main beach has their own display which we will be able to watch. After the official display we will watch the other display while we wait for the crowds to clear our. Then we will bike back to our cars. It's about 3 miles each way. All on pavement so any style of bike is fine. There will be a lot of pedestrians heading to the display so the sidewalks will be crowded but there are good bike lanes all the way. The auto traffic will be moving about 5 MPH!
