Bike And Hike Bird Key, ST. Armand's And Lido. Ice Cream Anyone?

Let's meet at Bird Key Park on the Ringling Causeway by the entrance to Bird Key. We will do a leisurely, scenic ride around the many roads of Bird Key, checking out the nice houses and new construction. Then we head to St. Armand's, bypassing the circle by taking Washington St. onto Lido Key. We will take a break at S. Lido Key Park. The park has been repaired and upgraded since last year's hurricanes. After a few minutes for water and restroom break we will hike the little trails through the woods and come out on the beach on the east side of the key. The water is warm if you want to wet your toes. The trail out and back is an easy 1 mile walk. We will then bike back along the Lido beach road into the circle with a quick detour to see more nice houses off a great side street. In the circle the stores should be open so we can grab an ice cream cone at Kilwin's to celebrate my birthday. The St. Armand's Kilwin's is their top grossing US store. We then bike back to our cars. We will bike at a leisurely 10- 12 MPH with water breaks as needed. Biking distance about 12 miles plus the short hike. Bring lots of refreshing liquids, sun block, bug repellant, bike lock. Those not wanting to hike can bring a bathing suit and jump in the waves.
