NEW EVENT: Ferry, Trolley, Beach Walk, Sunset Watching & Drinks + Supermoon

Details

THIS IS AN ENTIRELY NEW EVENT, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU SIGN UP!

This time we will ride the ferry to Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island, take the free Island Trolley to Anna Maria, walk the beach back to Anna Maria Beach Cafe, watch the sunset over cocktails and drinks, enjoy a full moon beach walk back to Bridge Street and take the ferry back to Bradenton.

Depending on the group size, we might make a group reservation in advance and prepay the ticket. No matter what, we will contact the ferry operator so they know what to expect. Tickets are $ 7 roundtrip for folks over 60 years and a bit more expensive if you are younger than that.
We will let you know in advance how we decide, stay tuned!

04:00 PM: Let's meet in front of The Bishop Museum of Science & Nature located at 201 10th St W in Bradenton.

There is unlimited free parking at the parking garage on the corner of 10th St W & 3rd Ave W (entrance ramp on 10th St W). Parking along the streets is usually limited to 2 hours.
From the museum we will take a short walk along the Riverwalk to the Ferry Pier. You might want to use the restrooms on the side of the parking garage before we head towards the boat.

04:30 PM: Ferry departure
The ferry ride to Bridge Street Pier on Anna Maria Island will take 50 minutes. We will then walk over to the bus stop.

05:34 PM: Free Island Trolley ride to Anna Maria
The bus will need about 20 minutes to get there depending on traffic.

06:00 PM: We will walk along the beach for about 2.5 miles back to Anna Maria Beach Cafe. This should take no more than 1 hour.

07:00 PM: Cocktails/Drinks and Sunset Watching at the bar.
The sun will set at 07:10 PM. In the meantime, the moon will rise at 06:52 PM.

This will be a special night out. Depending on cloud cover, we will be able to watch one of the few supermoons of the year. This one is called Harvest Moon according to the Farmer's Almanac. It will appear larger and brighter as usual.

07:40 PM: Moonshine walk at the Beach
We will walk approximately 2.7 miles back to the Bridge Street Pier. This should take about 1 hour.

09:00 PM: Ferry departure
The ferry ride will take 50 minutes.

Once we are back on the Riverwalk, we will head back to the cars.

Please bring along comfortable shoes unless you prefer to walk barefoot on the beach. Remember that the ferry is open on all sides, you might want to bring a light jacket is you are sensitive to nighttime temperatures.
