With on person able to do all this, and very quickly, there is nothing but green space as far as they eye can see creating applications that only now can be justified as the ROI tips strongly towards the “return” and the “investment” part of the equation plumets.

Even a modest company of 200 can afford a single developer when that developer is everything from Product Owner to project manager to solutions architect, to developer to UI/UX, to QA/QI and is pumping out secure custom applications every 2-10 weeks.

🎙 SPEAKER: BEN DONAHUE 👨🏻‍💻

Ben started his development training in 1977, at the ripe old age of 5, programming in Basic:

Taking and acing programming classes in High School (Blankenship Basic) and College (C++), Ben reasoned, “Well, that was fun and successful and promises a bright future; I think I’ll pursue a degree in Philosophy.” This, of course, opened professional doors all over the place; drive a cab, become a bartender, the opportunities were abundant.

After a 20-year career as a bartender, Ben trained at home in web development and Java, catching him up on current practices in web rendering and object-oriented programming.

Ben then attended and graduated from a 12-week Javascript bootcamp at Eleven-Fifty Academy, which allowed him to create a resume which landed him a job at Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida as an Application Developer, largely developing the CRM Ivanti (previously HEAT).

One day, the Director of IT, Eric Spencer, approaches him and shows him the pretty little purple icon that is a standard part of the Enterprise Microsoft Suite O365 for the “Power Apps” application. Once he created his first app in this technology, Eric approaches Ben again and says, “This, Ben, this is now your job,” thus launching Ben’s career in Software Development in earnest.

Ben worked in this capacity for Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida (currently Healthcare Network) until his skills outpaced his salary. Leaving Healthcare Network in February of 2021, he was quickly hired as a remote worker at Ice Miller Legal Services the following March where Ben continues to develop custom applications for attorneys, executives, other staff and other teams to this day.
