10 almost flat miles around the bucolic Chelmer valley with a couple of swims in the Chelmer, which is usually exceptionally clear for an Essex river, and visiting the well-known cafe at Paper Mill Lock. This is a variation of walk 8 from 'Wild Swimming Walks'. If coming from London the recommended train is the 9:08 from Liverpool St. which arrives at Hatfield Peverel at 9:50. 18:30 is an estimated finish time. As ever all welcome inlcuding those who only want to walk not swim, wear whatever you usually walk in and bring whatever you like to swim in and a packed lunch (the cafe stop will probably be rather late to make that your lunch). You both walk and swim at your own risk, the leader is an experienced walk leader and wild swimmer but has no formal qualification and there is no insurance.
