About the band – Jansen & De Vries
Jansen & de Vries; two messed up white boys from the east- and southside. They knock out that good 'ole hipshakingmusic from the 1940's and 50's. Come on down y'all and have a taste of that nice'n'sweet stuff while it's still hot. Don't worry if you're left wanting for more, there's still plenty where that came from!
Met de sfeer van een rokerige Chicago-bluesclub uit de jaren '50 betovert Blues Duo Jansen en de Vries het publiek. Mr. Jansen laat züjn mondharmonica huilen en zingen in de traditie van Little Walter, terwijl Mr. de Vries de oude Chicago-blues op gitaar beheerst, geinspireerd door grootheden als Robert Lockwood Jr. en Lightnin' Hopkins.
Hun repertoire, doordrenkt met klassiekers uit de jaren '40 en '50 van Chicago en Memphis, omarmt ook vergeten juweeltjes.

Slow Swing in March – help us decide
KZ - Kompaszaal, KNSM-Laan 311, Amsterdam, NH, NLHey everyone are you ready to move, groove, and have some fun? Swing Philosophy is running a Slow Swing course in March, and we want YOU to help pick the best day!
On slower swing tunes, you’ll:
- Learn the basics of Slow Swing dancing
- Explore the culture and history behind it
- Build real dance connections with othersNo partner? No problem! Everyone leads, everyone follows – so you’ll dance with everyone and make new friends.
We offer two options for our Slow Swing Classes. Please register on the day you can, if both days are possible vote for the last option. The Course will take place on the day, which has the most registrations. In case it is not the day you chose, we will inform you and hopefully be able to provide another day soon.
Pick your day:
- Mondays | 21:00 – 22:00 (2, 9, 16, 23 March)

BIG BAND NIGHT with JAZZALIKE Big Band
KZ - Kompaszaal, KNSM-Laan 311, Amsterdam, NH, NLBig band music, good company and great energy.
JAZZALIKE Big Band plays at our Big Band Night in KZ, inviting everyone to enjoy live swing music in a relaxed, welcoming and beautiful atmosphere.We are all about the glorious music of the 1930&40, mixed with nowadays life. It's an experience for young and old, for the listener and for the dancer, for the party animal and for the wallflower. We have the space for all of it in the allure of our 1956 stunning art-deco venue.
About the band:
Based in Utrecht, Jazzalike Bigband has been performing on stage since 2001. The repertoire consists of a good mix of modern jazz and traditional big band, as well as intimate ballads and danceable funk grooves. The band is made up of five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, a tight rhythm section, and an enthusiastic bandleader, often complemented by an amazing singer.
