About us
Welcome to Swing Into The Joy Of Contra. We are a friendly, welcoming group dedicated to the traditional social dance form of contra. If you have ever been curious about contra dancing but were not sure where to start, this is the perfect place to get your feet wet. Our goal is to create a low-pressure environment where people can learn the basics, meet neighbors, and enjoy the community spirit that makes this dance so special.
You do not need to bring a partner, and you do not need any prior dance experience to join us. Every session starts with a thorough walk-through of the moves, and we have live callers who guide us through the patterns as we dance. It is essentially walking to music with a bit of a swing, and it is a wonderful way to get some exercise while meeting new people. We hope you will come out, say hello, and give it a try with us.
