About us
Welcome to our group. We started this community to share the joy of contra dancing with folks who have never stepped onto a dance floor before. Whether you have two left feet or just want to brush up on the fundamentals, this is a low-pressure space where the focus is on learning the patterns at a comfortable pace. We believe that contra is one of the most welcoming forms of social dance, and we want to make sure everyone feels confident and capable from the very first song.
Most of our meetups are centered around walk-throughs of basic moves like heys, allemandes, and swings. You do not need to bring a partner, as we rotate throughout the evening, which is a great way to meet the other members of our local dance community. Just wear comfortable shoes that stay on your feet and bring a water bottle. We look forward to seeing you at our next dance.
