San Salvatore - Morcote

We're partnering with Swiss Muslim Hikes this weekend to organise an easy hike in Ticino from Monte San Salvatore to Morcote. This scenic hike begins with a funicular which takes us to the top of San Salvatore. The walk is easy, lasting between 3-4 hours as we walk south over the Penisola di Ceresio and descend down into Morcote. We are planning to take the ship back into Lugano.

What to bring:

• Good walking shoes
• Sun protection cream
• A hat
• Lunch, drinks and snacks
• A smile!

Schedule
07:05 - Meet under the Blue Angel at Zurich HB
07:33 - 09:30 pl.8 train from Zurich HB to Lugano
09:36 - 09:39 pl.1 train from Lugano to Paradiso
10:00 - 14:45 Ascent to San Salvatore by funicular and hike
15:15 - 16:00 ship to Lugano

(If you're not joining us from Zürich, you can meet up with us at any point in the journey, but latest at the base of the funicular that climbs up Monte San Salvatore).

At the end of the trip in Lugano we will stop off at a local masjid to pray salaah. Depending on the mood of the group we can also find a place to grab a pizza.

Costs
The cost of the funicular is CHF 12.50 per person with a GA or 1/2-Fare card. The cost of the ship is included in a day ticket, otherwise 13.80 with a half-fare card. Swiss Muslim Hikes will charge a 7.- fee to register for this hike.
