It's rut season for the Bighorn sheep. Waterton canyon is a wonderful place to see them and hopefully see a little headbutting action.

They are typically found 1.5 to 2.5 miles into the canyon which means this is a 4 to 5ish mile walk for the entire outing. Waterton canyon "trail" is essentially a road so the walking is easy, no steep climbs or cumbersome rock sections. Sturdy walking/trail shoes will work fine.

We may or may not need/want a long lens. Sometimes they come right down to the road. If you have a lens with a wide range it will be ideal. I will be taking my 24-240, though I might take a longer lens too. In my opinion tripods would be a real challenge to use due to the rapid movement of the sheep, but it's up to you. I will not be taking mine.

It will be up to the group, but if you are interested we could go to lunch after the shoot. There are a number of restaurant options that are fairly close.
