Journey to Self Through Infrared Photography with Sherri Mabe
Details
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
In this personal and visually rich presentation, infrared landscape photographer Sherri Mabe shares her artistic journey across decades, continents, and the shifting landscapes of her life. From her Colorado childhood to her early black and white work in the Pacific Northwest, and her darkroom discovery of Kodak HIE infrared film in Tampa during the mid-1990s, Sherri reflects on how infrared photography became a powerful path to self-rediscovery.
Drawn to its ethereal quality and its ability to reveal what the eye cannot see, she uses infrared to uncover the emotional presence of a place—while finding beauty in the ordinary. For Sherri, infrared is more than a technique; it’s a way of expressing memory, mystery, and a sense of belonging within the land.
This presentation offers a quiet invitation: to see beyond the visible, to move with stillness, and to reconnect with the landscapes we carry within ourselves.
