About us
Welcome fellow tennis players! š¾
We're so happy you're here. š With the excitement of the Australian Open season, weāre relaunching our Sydney Social CBD Tennis Hits Meetup! A group weāve been running successfully in the CBD and surrounds since 2020. (Meetup removes inactive groups after non-payment, so we had to restart).
We also have Facebook and WhatsApp communities, but Meetup remains the easiest place to organise events. Note: Only +61 numbers are approved for the WhatsApp group unless identity can be confirmed via DM.
Our Pages:
- Meetup (please share with your friends!)
- Our own RSVP tennis website coming soon! Keep posted.
### What Weāre About
Come join us for energetic, social outdoor tennis in the heart of Sydney! Whether youāre a beginner learning the game or a competitive player looking for solid rallies, we welcome all levels.
We do our best to match players with similar skill levels. Sessions are usually kept to 4 players per court, occasionally 6 if two players are happy to rotate in. This format has worked well and keeps things active and social.
Expect:
ā Organised 1-2 hour hits (with regular breaks)
ā Friendly matches and friendly networking
ā Optional drills
ā A fun, welcoming tennis community
Itās a great workout, good competition, and an easy way to meet people who love the game.
### What to Bring
š¾ Tennis racquet
š¾ Tennis balls (if you have some ā extra new ones always help)
š Proper tennis or decent sports shoes (non-marking soles preferred)
š§ Water bottle (stay hydrated!)
š§¢ Hat, sunscreen & sunglasses for sunny sessions (We usually try to schedule from 4pm onwards)
š§“ Small towel (youāll probably need it š
)
Optional but helpful:
⢠Wristbands / grip tape
⢠Light snack for energy
⢠Change of shirt
⢠Bike or scooter if commuting locally (there's usually plenty of bike parking around, just bring a lock!)
### About the Organiser
Iām Stefan from Sydney with a strong 12+ years of background in IT Support, Website Development and Cloud Infrastructure, Iāve played tennis since childhood (with coaching growing up), and since 2016 (when I got into watching AO!) itās become a regular part of my life for fitness, focus, and the satisfaction of a clean rally. I enjoy good court energy, competitive points, and bringing players together.
Skill level: Intermediate+, in hindsight I reckon with the right direction and support early on I could have been a Pro tennis player but it's A LOT of work, severely taxing on the body at that level (30yo will feel like you're 50yo - body impairment wise), very expensive with no guaranteed pay off, and I didn't like competition growing up. Watch this: Here Is How Much Money I Lost Playing 1 Season Of Pro Tennis - Top 300 In The World
If thereās enough interest, I can organise separate coaching sessions in the future ā but for now, itās all about casual play rallies and match play.
Feel free to keep in touch with our socials and meetup group.
### Recording Notice
We sometimes casually record or live stream rallies or matches (phone on ground or fence) for performance review, social sharing, or group promotion.
š Please tell the organiser if you prefer not to be recorded.
## š¾ Sydney Tennis Meetup ā Attendance & Payment Policy
To keep our games fair, organised, and enjoyable for everyone, please respect the following rules:
### 1ļøā£ RSVP Commitment
If you RSVP āGoingā, you are committing to attend and pay.
### 2ļøā£ Payment Requirement
- Payment must be made before the session (or within the stated deadline, after match is usually fine if the Organiser is present).
- Your spot is not secured until payment is received (for non-Organiser sessions) or confirmed via DM.
### 3ļøā£ No-Shows
- If you do not attend without prior notice, it is considered a no-show.
- No-shows will still be required to pay for their spot. A refund can be provided under special circumstances.
### 4ļøā£ Late Cancellations
- Cancellations within 24 hours of the event may still require payment or be considered a no-show.
- Emergencies will be considered at the Organiserās discretion.
### 5ļøā£ Ban Policy
To protect committed players:
- 1st offence: Warning, non-payment is an immediate permanent ban after a short warning to pay.
- 2nd offence: Temporary removal from future games
- Repeated offences: Permanent ban from the group
We organise courts, balls, and player rotations based on numbers. No-shows and unpaid spots affect everyoneās experience.
Letās keep it fair, social, and respectful š
### Important
As with all social sports events, we cannot provide liability insurance. Players participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own health and insurance arrangements.
See you on the courts!
