✨ Our Speakers ✨
We've got two fantastic speakers lined up, and we know you'll love them!
CSS around the home - Gilmore Davidson
Forget for a moment the hype train of best practices around super-scalable open-source design systems for Serious Business Products. Small, private, hyper-focused projects can often be a more valuable learning experience — especially if they actually provide a practical solution to something around the home! This talk will dig into some ways I've used web technologies for home projects. From blocking birds to kitchen kickboards, with a soupçon of subgrid for the printed page.
Gilmore is a developer who has been building with web technologies for two decades but has never gotten used to writing third-person bio snippets. He is currently building anti-bot software at Kasada, where he writes zero CSS day-to-day (which might explain a bit about why this talk exists).
If Johannes Gutenberg wrote CSS - Hon Boey
As front-end developers, we are continually making decisions around type. Here are some basic principles and their corresponding CSS rules to make those decisions easier, prettier and more legible.
Hon is an art director of 10+ years and a front-end developer of 5+ years. Currently, he is Principle at the Interaction Consortium. Previously, the Lead Graphic Designer at the Sydney Theatre Company. Hon also teaches graphic design at the University of Sydney, where he received the USS Commendation for Excellence in Teaching. Outside of work, Hon has a deep passion for self-publishing and founded the Other Worlds Zine Fair, an annual zine fair that was borne out of the 2014 Sydney Bienalle Boycotts. It is now in its 10th year.
