Azure Data Explorer: The Successor to Power BI

Details

Microsoft has substantial investments in Azure Data Explorer. Is it the replacement for Power BI? Where does it fit in within Microsoft analytics/reporting eco-system. Let's find out.
Azure Data Explorer (ADX) Clusters are designed from the ground up for interrogating massive amounts of data – very quickly.
Kusto Query Language (KQL) is the language that used to interact with ADX and dive deep into the data.
You may have previously heard of KQL if you have ever used Log Analytics as part of Azure Monitor.
This session will give a primer on both ADX and KQL and explore similarities with other data products such as SQL Server and T-SQL.
Come along to this session and see both ADX and KQL in action with a demo filled session.
This session will cover:

  • Getting a cluster up and running
  • Importing data
  • Querying data with Kusto Query Language (KQL)
  • Resource that can help you become proficient in KQL and ADX
  • Questions
