Welcome to Sydney Central Book Corner!

Our book club has existed since 2006. And we believe we have a winning model, with several long term members.

We usually meet on the first Monday or Tuesday of each month (FEB-NOV) in Sydney CBD or Surry Hills area, close to public transport. Meeting at 6.30pm for a 7pm book discussion start.

In January we meet (for a Sunday brunch or on a weeknight) to discuss a book to movie/tv series adaptation & in December we meet on a weeknight for Christmas drinks & to chat about our favourite reads of the year.

Around February & August each year the next 4-6 books we are discussing are published. Members jointly select the books we discuss by an online nomination & voting survey. Financial Members are invited to nominate 1-2 books & then all members are invited to vote by rating each of the nominated books on a scale of 1 thru 4.

Some features of our group are:

* Democratic selection of books. Financial members can nominate & all members can vote;

* We like to give plenty of notice of the books we will be reading and when;

* We usually favour books that have made it to the library to keep purchase costs for our members down;

* We keep meeting sizes small - max. 14-16, so that everyone attending can join in the group discussion;

*We share the cost of running our group from meetup. Annual membership is encouraged, but a casual fee per-meeting is also offered. For all new members, first two (2) attendances are free.
