Details

**This ride is not open to newcomers. If you have not ridden with us before, you can join one of the free Newcomers rides, listed from time to time.**

Read all the details below, and join only if you are confident this is within your ability.

Start at Canley Vale Station
The ride ends at the Cooks River Path at Canterbury, near Canterbury train station. If you don't want to get the train home, ride the Cooks path towards Tempe (approx 5kms)/Wolli Creek/ the city ; or the other direction towards Flemington (approx 7kms)/Strathfield.

  • Lots of upwards hills
  • About 35-40kms - average 15kph
  • No toilets, shops, stops for 20kms.
  • Right-hand turns on main roads.
  • Busy road crossings.
  • This ride is medium-hard.
  • If you need a train home before the end of the ride, there's Carramar after 1km, or Riverwood after 20kms, Also Kingsgrove and Bexley North a bit further on.

This ride takes in picturesque waterways in Sydney's south-west, and includes Salt Pan Creek. There's paths, quiet streets, and a few bigger roads, artsy paths alongside the M5, then the uphill climb towards Earlwood.
At Salt Pan Creek you need to walk your bike on raised platforms that help protect the delicate balance of the mangrove ecosystem and all the litter therein.

After 20kms there's some reasonable park toilets. Then we move on to Riverwood where we can stop at the bakery with coffee. There's other mini-marts and fruit shops there too.

Meet at the non-shops side of Canley Vale station, First Avenue bike parking area.

Bring your bike, spare tube, helmet, water, snacks, sun protection, and navigation home if you don't keep up.
No worries with steps at Canley Vale - there's lifts, and the platforms are at street level.
The ride might be rescheduled if the weather is poor, or trackwork disrupts trains.
