Outline:

Freelancer.com (http://freelancer.com/) is the world’s largest freelancing and crowdsourcing marketplace, with over 17 million users. The company is ASX-listed, and is fast approaching a billion dollar valuation by market capitalisation. For this meetup, we’ll have Tim O’Keefe, the user acquisition team lead at Freelancer, in to talk about how the company has succeeded by using data and on what it means to them to be data driven. He’ll also give out some tips on using Freelancer, plus there’ll be a few giveaways for attendees.

Bio:

Tim O’Keefe leads the user acquisition team at Freelancer.com (http://freelancer.com/). He started at Freelancer as a data scientist focused on exploiting the rich data available to the company to improve their SEM campaigns. Shortly after joining, he was promoted to team lead, where he presided over growing the acquisitions team from 4 people up to over 30, with further expansion planned. Tim has played a leading role in growing and encouraging the data-driven culture at Freelancer. Before joining Freelancer, Tim completed his PhD in Natural Language Processing, with a focus on building software capable of differentiating between fact and opinion in text.
