Designer: Lost & Found
What I learned after interviewing 50+ designers, leaders, and changemakers about self-awareness, creative confidence, and meaning.

Us designers used to sell like hotcakes during the past decade, as more and more companies got on the bandwagon of human-centricity and design thinking. However, with the pandemic, AI, and subsequent industry-wide reorganisation, designers felt the rug pulled out from under their feet. Anxieties, burnouts, and layoffs have become all too common.

As the industry literally transforms before our eyes, you have a choice - stay at the mercy of your current system or take back agency of your wellbeing, life, and career and choose the system you want to belong to.

In this talk, designer, educator, coach, and founder of the Design Feeling Podcast, Nirish Shakya will share his top learnings from his interviews with 50+ designers, leaders, and changemakers globally. Using self-awareness techniques from his coaching experience, and spirituality from his Nepalese Buddhist roots, Nirish will also share practical tips to rediscover you, the human behind the human-centred designer, ensuring what you do aligns with who you are.

Nirish Shakya
Nirish Shakya is a Nepalese designer, educator, coach, and founder of the Design Feeling Podcast. Starting his tech and design career in Sydney almost 20 years ago, he has designed, led, and coached at multiple global brands, governments, and startups.

For the past 10 years in the big smoke in London, Nirish worked on multiple exciting design challenges but along the way lost the very human doing human-centred design - himself. Misaligned, burnt out, and lost, he started a new quest for self-awareness, creative confidence, and meaning.

He has been blending design thinking with self-awareness techniques from his coaching experience, and spirituality from his Nepalese Buddhist roots. His latest projects include the Design Feeling Podcast and the unThinking Space that helps designers and changemakers pause, reflect, and recalibrate.
