What Is the Group About?
“Fracture in Nature” is a space to explore how things break—in nature, in materials, in society, and in ourselves. It’s a space to share personal reflections and abstract ideas, drawing inspiration from patterns in the natural world and seeking fulfillment through connection.
We’ll be looking at the visible and invisible fractures around us and asking:
- Why do things break?
- Can breaking be a form of growth or transformation?
- What can nature teach us about strength, stress, and reconnection?
- Why do tiny flaws lead to major effects in large systems?
- Can natural fractures be symbolic of human divides?
- Can time go backwards?
- Can objects and people reconnect—after they’ve broken apart?
Whether you love science, engineering, art, philosophy, or simply like asking big questions, this is a welcoming space to think deeply and connect with others. I am an engineer with a love of the natural environment. I am fascinated by fracture in natural materials.
Who Is Invited?
The group is welcoming to anyone with an interest in its content. It is open to all regardless of background. It is not restricted to individuals directly practicing in the subject.
How Will It Work?
Ideally events would be held occasionally to allow participants to meet, connect, and share.
How Much Does It Cost?
The group is free to join and participate in, except for any personal expenses incurred in travelling to events, etc.
Group Rules:
The group is not intentionally affiliated with any other organisation. The group represents personal opinions and does not reflect the opinions of organisations with which members are associated. Participants are personally responsible for managing conflicts of interest involved in participating in the group. Participants respect other participants.

This event is a small discussion. We’ll be looking at the visible and invisible fractures around us and asking:

What to Expect
- A relaxed and respectful group conversation.
- No lectures, no jargon—just shared curiosity.
- Small group (study room size), so everyone can speak.
- No prior knowledge required.
- Participants are amateurs, and attend voluntarily.
- Participants are not obligated to speak, you can just listen if you prefer.
