What we’re about
What Is the Group About?
A group for anyone interested in fracture mechanics, whatever that means to each individual.
It is a journey.
I am determined to study and understand fracture in the natural world, despite the obstacles I encounter.
To me fracture mechanics is not about material stresses, strains, deformations, etc.
To me it is abstract thought, the connection between humans and nature, a desire to connect with the world when we don't feel connected.
To me it is about making meaning through nature and communicating through nature.
To me it is about how tiny elements have drastic effect on masses.
To me it is about loneliness and connection.
To me it is about identity, abnormality, and self-actualisation.
To me it is about communication, telepathically.
To me it is about duress, deliverance, and transforming the world in one's mind.
Who Is Invited?
The group is welcoming to anyone with an interest in its content. It is open to all regardless of background. It is not restricted to individuals directly practicing in the subject.
How Will It Work?
Ideally events would be held occasionally to allow participants to meet, connect, and share. However, in practice I think it could be more notional, or through online discussion.
How Much Does It Cost?
The group is free to join and participate in, except for any personal expenses incurred in travelling to events, etc.
Group Rules:
The group is not intentionally affiliated with any other organisation. The group represents personal opinions and does not reflect the opinions of organisations with which members are associated. Participants are personally responsible for managing conflicts of interest involved in participating in the group. Participants respect other participants.
