**Itinerary:**
Tucked into The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest neighborhood, the Susannah Place Museum is a row of four terraced homes that housed working-class families from 1844 to the 1980s. Now a museum, the restored homes—incorporating an original corner shop—let visitors chart the lives of some of Sydney’s earliest and poorest residents.

We will pass the Child of the Rocks sculpture (5010 Cambridge St) on our way to the museum. The scultpure is representative of the lines and textures that feature within the mined blocks of the sandstone it is seated on, the mortar that holds it together, and the nearby Sydney rocks.

From Circular Quay, head west to George Street and turn left onto George St, right onto Globe St and take the stairs. Turn right onto Harrington St to pass the Child of the Rocks sculpture. Then left onto Gloucester St via some stairs (historical landmark of sandstone cobblestone steps) to Susannah Place.

From here we turn left and cross the Next stop, The Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre (a heritage-listed archaeological site located at 106–128 Cumberland Street). [The Big Dig](https://www.visitsydneyaustralia.com.au/big-dig.html), spanning two half-city blocks, is a large archaeological site in The Rocks of Sydney. The [artefacts](https://www.visitsydneyaustralia.com.au/lost-carahers-lane.html) discovered at the site have ranged in date from the 1790s to the 1930s.

Retracing our steps we head to the Pylon Lookout & Museum - a 12 minute walk. The views from the top of the Harbour Bridge's southeast pylon are well worth the 200 steps, though the entry fee seems steep. Museum exhibits and a short film of old photos explain how the bridge was built. It's on the bridge walkway, accessed from Cumberland St. Cash not accepted.

Then a 15 minute walk to Pancakes On The Rocks via Cumberland St, Gloucester Walk and Argyle St to Playfair St.

Train/Bus/Light Rail to Circular Quay, then a 7-minute walk to Susannah Place.
