Jam Sessions Sydney Jammers

Intro

My name is Shane if you are reading this you too are a musician who wants to play with other people but have either not yet found the right people or are a little put off by the audition process. As a musician who has studied for over 10 years, I too have tried to take the next step from bedroom to stage and found that most ads for musicians are seeking seriously skilled musicians with live experience. I also found that ads for a more ground level experience were rare and very disorganised and as a result I was often disappointed by how quickly the energy would wane. I have found via creating the Sydney Jammers Meetup that there are many other musicians who would also like the opportunity to meet and play with like minded people who are also interested in sharing their unique talents. Feel free to reach out if you need to know more sydneyjammers@gmail.com

Sydney Jam Sessions Meetup is free to join and is an initiative that endeavours to connect musicians and nurture unique talents via a diverse network of passionate collaborative people in an environment that is easy going and non judgemental. The Jam sessions are currently held in professional rehearsal rooms in Waterloo and they run for three hours. The cost to attend a Jam is $25 per person which is pre paid via PayPal when you RSVP. A full 48hrs notice is required for a refund and you are also protected via PayPal's refund policy say if I was to be hit by a bus. What is provided
The rehearsal studio provides a full drum kit, PA, 3 x mics, 2 x Guitar amps, 1 x Bass amp, keyboard amp and music stands. I would suggest that you bring your own mic stand and lead  if you don't want to share. We usually get a lot of guitarists so I also suggest to bring a combo amp your pedals and a lead.

The Jams
Big Room Song Book - This is the most popular for people that are new to Jamming and/or just want to have a bash. There is no limit to numbers of Jammers in the Big Room however it usually is fine with 20 or more Jammers. Please follow this link to view the songbook Big Room Song Book
Snake Pit - This Jam has a limit of 10 Jammers and is focused more on free Jamming and improvisation. It's great for guitarists to practise soloing and getting around the mix as well as vocalists wanting to riff out lines to music.
Sydney Jammers Choir - We have access to a large room with a stage and are looking for someone to host a Pub type choir. If you are interested in either hosting or participating in an informal choir please feel free to reach out sydneyjammers@gmail.com
Guest Hosts - I'm looking for others to host Jams and happy to share the network and templates with anyone who wants to step up and drive. As a host you will jam for free though all costs are your responsibility. So if you think you have what it takes to host a killer Jam please feel free to reach out sydneyjammers@gmail.com  

What Happens Next
You won't know if you don't try. Please don't do what I did and keep putting it off until I was either a better player or singer as playing with others requires experience that you cannot get in the bedroom though I must warn you it is highly addictive. A number of  our Jammers have joined bands and are now playing gigs. The video on the front page is my band of Jammers doing just that. If this is something you want we can also help you form a band and curate a set list to play in front of your friends at one of our showcases.
