ABOUT: Explore the hidden gem of south-west Sydney – Campbelltown Arts Centre and its vicinity on Sunday. Perfect for those wanting a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Come along whatever your professional background! Tech, finance, law, real estate, hospitality, healthcare, retail, fashion - all welcome. Feel at home.
This informative tour will introduce you to Australian artists working in painting, photography, sculpture and installation - covering a range of subjects. Listen to fascinating stories. Learn about culture and creativity. Introduce yourself to each other, make new friends. Explore the arts centre shop with a variety of fabulous artistic items, interact with staff, spend time in nature, have fun.
MEETING TIME: 12:00 Noon – 12:20 PM.
MEETING POINT: Outside the Entrance of “Campbelltown Arts Centre”, 1 Art Gallery Rd, Campbelltown NSW 2560
GETTING THERE: Very easy walk from Campbelltown Station to Campbelltown Arts Centre. From the Hurley Street entry/exit move to Railway Street. Walk along, turn right to Queen Street. Walk till the end of the street, you will reach Camden Road and Art Gallery Road – and see the arts centre sign.
START AND PROGRAMME: We will begin at 12.30 PM, first exploring multiple galleries within the arts centre then moving on to the stunning Japanese Garden and Sculpture Garden – places of serenity and reflection. (Snacks and drinks are available within the centre for those who may want to enjoy a bite.) Next, we will leave the centre and visit some fascinating public art spaces nearby.
END: We will end the walk around 2:30 PM. Later, you can spend 30-60 minutes at a restaurant for a chat, if you want. Easy way back to Campbelltown Station.
PRICE OF TOUR: Please pay $10 by cash on arrival.
IMPORTANT:
- Wear comfortable shoes, a hat or cap, sun protection. Bring a water bottle and an umbrella in case it rains.
- Be careful when you explore art galleries. Do not touch surfaces of artworks.
- No additional compulsory costs beyond $10. Drinks and snacks are optional.
- Remember to have a good breakfast before arriving which can keep you going during the early afternoon.
- Photos of the group will be clicked and may be posted on Meetup and the organiser’s social media platforms. Attendees who do not wish to be photographed must inform the organiser before the tour begins.
