Sydney Language Exchange Nights (Mandarin and English)

Welcome to Sydney Mandarin and English Social Club.
This is a weekly in-person language exchange group for people who want real speaking practice in Mandarin Chinese and English.
We meet every Wednesday night, 7-8pm, in and around central Sydney. Locations may vary.
This is not a class, lecture, or presentation night. It is a structured social speaking club. The goal is simple: practise with real people, meet new people, and build confidence through actual conversation.
The format is designed to help people start speaking from the beginning, even if they feel nervous or are still at an early stage.

English speakers use the Chinese prep page to prepare Chinese lines.
Chinese speakers use the English prep page to prepare English lines.
Each meetup has a simple structure:
1. Short introductions and warm-up conversations
2. Guided speaking practice in pairs or small groups
3. Rotations so you repeat and improve with different people
4. More relaxed conversation afterwards
Why this works:
- If your goal is to speak with real people, you need to practise with real people
- Repeating the same ideas with different strangers builds fluency and confidence
- Pronunciation improves through real interaction: you say something, get misunderstood, adjust, and try again
- Preparation reduces pressure and helps people speak sooner
This group is for:
- English speakers learning Mandarin
- Mandarin speakers learning English
- Anyone interested in language and cultural exchange
You do not need to be fluent. You do not need perfect pronunciation. You just need to be willing to try.
The atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and practical. People come here to speak, not to perform.
