What’s On?

We’ll be joined by Ramon Perez, who will give a workshop on vector databases.

Building Sound Recommender Systems with Vector Databases

In this hands-on workshop, we will explore the fusion of Python, transformers, and Qdrant to create a powerful music recommendation system. We will do so by diving into the world of audio data, transformers, and vector databases for efficient storage and retrieval of high-dimensional vectors. We will begin the workshop with (1) an overview of audio data, highlighting their importance and practical applications. We will then go over (2) how vector databases work, why they are useful, and how we get started with them using Qdrant, a highly scalable vector database and one of the fastest growing open source projects in 2023.

We will begin the workshop with (1) an overview of audio data, highlighting their importance and practical applications. We will then go over (2) how vector databases work, why they are useful, and how do we get started with them using Qdrant, a highly scalable vector database and one of the fastest growing open source projects in 2023. In the third part, we will go over (3) different deep-learning architectures that allow us to extract vectors from audio data and use them for our recommendation system. Finally, we will then put everything together by (4) building a UI to upload songs to and get the best recommendations for similar ones.

While this is a technical workshop, those with a non-technical background are welcome to attend. So, if you've always wanted to learn about recommendation systems, how to use audio data for work or play, or simply learn about the new kid in the block, vector databases, then this workshop is for you.
