Working Bee for the daytime mardi gras rally

Details

Mardi Gras is coming up again! This year there will be two versions again, both on the 5th of March. Last year several of us showed up to the daytime protest and had a lovely time, so we thought we could do it again, but be a little more organised this year! We've gotten incredible mileage out of the placards from our 2015 "No Exemption from Anti-Discrimination" float, but we could really do with some new ones. I'm sure we have more to say - and wouldn't it be nice to have a real banner to announce us...

I have some corflute for signs and fabric for banners; heaps of paint, brushes and markers; an overhead projector if we want to get fancy; and heaps of outdoor space but not much indoors except a garage.

If you're interested, let me know so I can give you the actual address; bring an apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on; and maybe bring some food and ideas. If you can't make it but have ideas for slogans or topics, get in touch - it can be hard to think of what to say at the right time, so it'd be fantastic to have some suggestions ready!

Meanwhile, I'll put up another event soon for the rally, but is there anything else that any of you want to do as a group? Fair day is on the 20th and there's a play about Turing that a friend is involved with - I haven't even gone through the program yet to see everything else...

COVID-19 safety measures

Event will be outdoor
As this is likely to be rather small, and mostly outside, we shouldn't need too many special measures. If you need something specific, or if you're not/can't be vaccinated, do let me know. If everyone on this list decides that this is the perfect distanced activity and it becomes a giant painting party, I'll have to get back to you with more measures!
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
