Mardi Gras - taking back Oxford St!

Details
Mardi Gras is this Saturday! We'll be meeting at 12.30 outside the Serafim Chemist on Campbell St, just across the rainbow crossing from Taylor Square. By 1pm we'll have likely moved in towards the speakers, but you should be able to spot our signage. If you can't find us, you can try Kate on 0417 450 802, but fair warning, communications are challenging in a crowd...
Just like last year, we're not officially participating in the evening parade, which is inside a stadium again, but we are joining the lovely daytime street march from Taylor Square down to the park, in the style of the original Mardi Gras. Thanks to everyone who attended last week's working bee, we now have a banner and our ever-relevant placards from the 2015 float have been touched up!
It'd be great if we could get at least half a dozen people who will definitely be there, so that we know all the signs will have someone to hold them! Also someone to help Kate bring them all in from the north would be very much appreciated. And of course if you can't commit to anything like that, we'll still be perfectly delighted to see everyone who shows up on the day!
Our underlying message is the same as every year: atheists are an important part of this community, we belong whether we're fighting or celebrating. Queer rights are atheist rights. And besides, even without a coordinated costume (which also means no cost for entry), it's a rare opportunity to dress up if you want to!
Will you join us? The main event page is https://www.facebook.com/events/3137616226470144/
and if you can also be counted on to help out with our little contingent, just get in touch. Either way, hope to see you all there!
