What we’re about

This is a group for anyone interested in bushwalking. Nothing like a bushwalk in a National Park or State Conservation Area in and around Sydney. Sydney Sunday Bushwalking (SSB) is dedicated to walking. We welcome experienced walkers and those new to bushwalking.

Everyone walks for different reasons, but for many it is a unique way to appreciate the wonders of the natural environment, to explore, to develop independence, self-sufficiency, leadership, and teamwork, and to improve and challenge your physical health and fitness, while meeting and spending time with others with similar interests, and forming friendships.

The group aims to provide a variety of walks. Despite the group's name, walks are not exclusively held on Sundays. Members interested in organising and leading walks with the group are also welcome; please contact the leadership team.

Almost all of the group's walks are free to attend. Normally, the only cost incurred by a participant is their own cost of transport to an event, and a vehicle entry fee if applicable. However, registering the group on the Meetup website is not free. If you feel inclined to make a donation towards this cost please contact the leadership team.

Terms & Conditions:
RSVP RULE - we have a rule in this Group that if you don't amend your RSVP and clock up some no-shows you will be removed from the Group. There are no excuses for changing your RSVP to "No" if you can't make it.
By joining Sydney Sunday Bushwalking (SSB) hosted by Meetup and choosing to participate in our events, you are asserting that you understand the risks involved and that you are assuming responsibility for your own safety and wellbeing during any of the events.

By signing up for a SSB event you agree that you have read and understood the terms below. If you join us for a bushwalk or any other event, please understand that you are responsible for your own preparedness and wellbeing and will hold no one else liable in case of injury or other mishap.

Bushwalking is an inherently risky activity. The risks include but are not limited to changes in the weather, hazardous terrain, animal attacks, falls, falling objects, failure of critical equipment and injury from physical exertion. Travelling to a wilderness area involves additional risks such as medical assistance not being available. By participating you agree not to hold the event organisers or fellow participants liable for any injury or damage to personal property as a consequence of these inherent risks.

SSB is a group with event hosts who are amateurs. Bushwalking with amateurs rather than a professional guide involves additional risks. These include but are not limited to first aid or other assistance during an emergency and general assistance during an event. By participating you agree not to hold other participants or the organisers liable for negligence, oversight or any other mistakes on their part. By participating in SSB events you agree not to hold the organiser or any other participants responsible for any injuries, mishaps or any unforeseen situation that may occur on a SSB event. You are responsible to research the event, including thoroughly reading the host's description of the event prior to attending and for knowing your own capability to participate in the event and bring the proper gear.

SSB does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals who may participate in any one of our events which are organised by one of our volunteer organisers.

If you decide to share a vehicle ride with organisers or other members of SSB you do so at your own risk. These rides are not to be considered commercial services, but considered carpooling by friends.

By signing up to SSB or one of its events you understand that you are attending all events at your own risk. Organisers of this group just organise the events and we bushwalk or camp together as a group of friends. There are no qualified outdoor instructors or guides on our events and you are therefore responsible for your own safety and wellbeing at all times.

By RSVPing to any event hosted by the SSB, you or any guests you invite agree to comply with the Terms and Conditions outlined above.
