Abstract: Opinionated frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Django, and Spring Boot have revolutionized software development by enabling companies to deliver features faster, ultimately driving customer success.

At Gumtree Australia, our Web Quality Engineering team has adopted a similar approach to our quality processes over the past few years. This strategy has allowed us to achieve continuous delivery with high quality and minimal defect leakage.

By iteratively refining our processes with input from development teams, we’ve continually improved our approach. We are excited to share these insights with the Sydney Testers community.

Panel Discussion: Shift Left Testing

Shift-left testing has gained significant popularity in recent years, especially following the publication of the Agile Manifesto and the rise of opinionated web development approaches.

However, the concept dates back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. Over the years, this approach has been adopted and tested by hundreds of companies, including Gumtree Australia, with varying levels of success.

Let’s come together to discuss the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages, successes and failures, and common pitfalls to avoid.
