Presented by: Cassandra Au

Confucianism is not a religion as such, but a system of philosophical and ethical teachings founded by Confucius 2,500 years ago. It has played a significant role in framing traditional Chinese character and their way of living.

Who is this man whose teachings had made such far-reaching and lasting impact not only in China, but also to its neighbouring countries in the Far East?

In the two hundred years before Confucius was born, the Middle Kingdom had degenerated into a number of parcels ruled by individual warlords. Societal structure and cultural values had broken down. It was growing up at this time of great instability and chaos that Confucius resolved to reform society and politics with his ideals.

In this presentation, we will take a brief look at the historical background and the life of Confucius, and try to glimpse some of his main teachings.

Cassandra Au is a retired Analyst/Programmer, a qualified Transpersonal Counsellor and an eternal student.
