Technical talks at Atlassian

Details
Technical talks night at Atlassian! We're having 3 very interesting technical talks.
Matthew Jensen: Making Worlds or Procedurally Generated Planets or Mouldy Oranges
This talk will start by covering different types of noise functions and how to combine them to create random signals that represent the shapes we require. Then, we'll then look at the basics of procedurally generating meshes and combing them to create different primitive shapes, like cubes, spheres etc. We'll then bring both of those lessons together to apply noise to a spherical mesh to create an an entirely randomly generated planet.
Matt has been a developer for over 30 years, and has created bugs in almost every language. A self-confessed gamer tragic, he has been a hobby game writer for the last 15 years. He has worked at Atlassian as a development team lead for the last 12 years to support his gaming addiction, which includes games from every genre. In Azeroth, he is known as Furgin.
Tom Williams: Rethinking Prefabs - how the new prefab workflow will change your approach to Unity development.
The upcoming Unity 2018.3 will introduce an all new prefab workflow. Prefab nesting, prefab variants and the new prefab inspector allows greater control and speed when constructing your prefabs. This talk will cover each of these concepts in detail, and a demonstration will reveal how this workflow can be applied to benefit your own project's structure.
Tom Williams is an independent game developer with over 5 years experience in the local games industry. He has developed games and applications using Unity for desktop, consoles, mobile and mixed reality.
