Lots of contrasting visions were lumped together under the ‘metaverse’ banner in the web3 hype cycle. But now that we’re out the other side, I want to take some time to explore the real potential. What does the future of shared immersive experiences look like? What might actually appeal to end users?
I’ll explore some of the range of 3D and XR immersive experiences that have been developed or concepted, with a particular focus on those offering a shared social experience. I’ll cover the different user experiences, tech and tooling needs, and present my view of how these are likely to rationalise in the coming years.
