Accessibility and AI
Details
Let's get together for a coversation around the world of accessibility and AI. We will hear from Atlassian and Intopia as they discuss some of what they are doing in this space.
Thnak you to the team at Atlassian for hosting SWAID and providing us with a bit of food and drink.
Andrew Bui
Software Engineer at Atlassian | Accessibility & Design System
At Atlassian, they've spent the past year embedding accessibility checks directly into the tools engineers use every day so that common issues are caught and fixed automatically during development, before code ever ships. We've seen this reduce the accessibility issues reaching manual audit, freeing our QA specialists to focus on the more complex, human-only problems that tools can't catch. More recently, we've also extended this into AI-assisted development, making accessibility a default part of how our AI coding tools generate and review code. This year, we're pushing even further and moving a11y tooling earlier into the planning and design phase and exploring how AI can do more than just catch issues, but actively guide and generate accessible experiences from the very start.
